Maciek Szupica, born on December 8, 1975, in Białystok, is a multidisciplinary artist—a painter, director, graphic artist, photographer, and video creator. In his art, he combines transformational realism with abstraction, creating melancholic, distorted depictions that encourage viewers to reflect more deeply on reality. His work is characterized by an unconventional narrative, a subversive approach, and creative freedom.
He graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where he earned a doctorate in fine arts in 2015. For many years, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, and the University of Gdańsk, sharing his experience and knowledge with young artists.
In addition to painting, he is involved in directing and visual arts. He co-founded and served as artistic director of the Interference Festival, dedicated to visual communication. He has created dozens of music videos, animations, campaigns, and multimedia projects, and through Interference Visual Crew, he was responsible for the visual production of Poland’s largest festivals. He has also participated in musical and multimedia projects such as Dick4Dick, Cavalleris, Gypsy Pill, and The Saintbox.
